Uni Connect

Via our AccessHE network, London Higher is a key regional partner in the government’s flagship collaborative outreach programme, Uni Connect.  

Our role in Uni Connect in London involves directing collaborative widening participation work towards the areas where it can have the most impact, and building strategic links between London HE and other system partners. Some examples of this include: 

• Creating a partnership between AccessHE members and the GLA’s Holiday Hope programme. This has led to our members’ non-term-time outreach programmes being integrated into City Hall’s work to provide 250,000 young Londoners with positive extracurricular opportunities by 2028. The partnership has unlocked funding to scale up  existing HE-led programmes and will create a blueprint for deeper collaboration between London’s HE and youth sector.     

• Creating a partnership with the London Borough of Havering to jointly establish a brand new, borough-wide programme of higher education outreach. This is coordinated by AccessHE and co-delivered by our members. The work supports a known higher education ‘cold spot’ in London as the borough’s HE participation rate is the lowest in the capital and there is no university based in the area.
