Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
Director General of the World Health Organization (Ethiopia), London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
After completing his studies in the UK, Dr Tedros returned to Ethiopia working in the delivery of health services, and served in government for 10 years as Minister of Health and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Dr Tedros has served on numerous public health boards, including Chair of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. He became Director-General of WHO in 2017, the first African to do so, and he led the organisation’s global response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He embodies LSHTM’s mission to improve health and health equity worldwide.
