Hyper-diversity revisited: London’s student population 2035

AccessHE’s new report looks at why London’s current path of hyper-diversity is also a path towards increasing educational inequality.

This report revisits predictions made by AccessHE in 2018, which forecasted a ‘hyper-diverse’ student population in London by 2030. Hyper-diversity revisited takes stock of patterns of higher education (HE) participation over the intervening seven year period and makes new projections for HE participation trends over the coming decade, through to 2035.

Gaps in university entry rates between those eligible for free school meals and those who are not eligible, are projected to grow, reinforcing educational inequalities. Inter-regional disparities are also set to widen.
