More students than ever have secured their first-choice university place today, including at London’s wide range of higher education institutions.
With its unparalleled offering of world-leading specialist providers, research-intensive institutions and multi-faculty universities, London remains a top choice for students from across the UK and internationally.
New analysis released earlier this week also highlights London’s strength in widening access to higher education. London’s institutions took eight of the top ten spots in the Social Mobility Commission’s newly-developed university benchmarks for social mobility which assess how effectively universities provide opportunities for students from a wide range of backgrounds.
Liz Hutchinson, Chief Executive of London Higher, said:
“Congratulations to everyone receiving their results and securing their place today. It’s a huge achievement, and we’re delighted that so many have chosen London as the place to start their next chapter.
“London attracts students from across the UK and around the globe, and this diverse student community is what makes the capital such a fantastic place to live, study and work. Today’s figures also show high numbers of Londoners opting to study in their home city.
“Whatever their background or ambitions, London’s new students can look forward to an education that will open up new opportunities, help them discover where their talents can take them, and prepare them for rewarding careers.”
