London Higher responds to Welsh Government’s Investment in International Student Recruitment

The Welsh Government has announced £500,000 additional investment in the Global Wales programme for international recruitment and promotional activities in higher education. In an increasingly challenging environment for international student recruitment, this investment offers a lifeline to Wales’ higher education sector, one which recognises the crucial role of global engagement in the financial sustainability of universities.

As the representative body for over 50 universities and higher education institutions in London, London Higher urges both the UK Government and the Mayor of London to take note of this strategic investment by the Welsh Government.  London’s position as a global education hub, attracting talented students and researchers from around the world to drive growth across the nation, requires sustained support to maintain its competitive edge.

We encourage decision-makers to consider the strategic benefits of supporting destination marketing initiatives like Study London, which play a crucial role in promoting London’s higher education offering globally. With the imminent launch of the London Growth Plan and the focus on international education, this is the time to take action.
