London Higher has awarded targeted grants to three collaborative projects that bring together institutions across the capital to improve how health students learn and train in clinical settings. The projects span physiotherapy, pharmacy and care home rehabilitation.
The announcement comes as London Higher prepares to deliver its renewed strategic vision for the sector, with health and life sciences a key priority area. The projects reinforce London’s position as a leading centre for health education, demonstrating how collaboration across the capital’s uniquely diverse higher education sector can strengthen the pipeline of skilled graduates entering London’s healthcare workforce.

The projects are:
Ready for Practice
Buckinghamshire New University and London Metropolitan University will develop a London-wide framework to standardise physiotherapy placement readiness expectations across programmes.
Transforming Care
St Mary’s University and Health Sciences University will evaluate and explore expansion of student-led rehabilitation programmes in care homes.
Pharmacy Placement Co-creation
UCL School of Pharmacy, King’s College London and Kingston University will develop supervisor training and preparatory resources for pharmacy students on clinical placements.
