
Freedom of the City of London recipients at Mansion House.
We are proud that our CEO Diana Beech, and 6 ‘remarkable’ individuals from London Higher members were awarded the Freedom of the City of London during a group ceremony hosted by Lord Mayor Professor Michael Mainelli.
Professor Randall Whittaker, Principal and CEO of Rose Bruford College, Professor Sally Wheeler, Vice-Chancellor of Birkbeck, University of London, Professor Jane Harrington, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Greenwich, Professor Frances Corner OBE, Warden of Goldsmiths, University of London, Josette Bushell-Mingo OBE, Principal of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and Clare Connor, Chief Executive of The Place and London Contemporary Dance School were the leading figures from London higher education institutions honoured for their outstanding achievements.
The awards brought together 40 recipients at the Lord Mayor’s official residence, the Mansion House, and were given as part of the Lord Mayor’s ‘Connect to Prosper’ theme. ‘Connect to Prosper’ focuses on the City’s expertise and brings together experts from diverse backgrounds to work on critical global challenges, such as climate change and AI.
Speaking after the ceremony, Lord Mayor Professor Michael Mainelli said:
“These people are remarkable individuals who exemplify the City of London’s spirit of innovation and dedication, and have enriched the Square Mile’s diverse tapestry with their impressive achievements and contributions to public life.
“Today’s ceremony embodies the essence of connectivity that underscores my mayoral theme, ‘Connect to Prosper’, celebrating our many Knowledge Miles and showcasing the Square Mile’s ability to bring people together, across different areas of expertise, to find solutions to our planet’s biggest challenges.”
