Imperial College London joins London Higher

London Higher is today pleased to announce that Imperial College London has officially joined the membership organisation as part of its mission to strengthen collaboration with business, academia, healthcare and government bodies across London, the UK and around the globe.

London Higher – the representative body for the UK’s higher education powerhouse in London – is the largest representative body of its kind in England and works with local, national and international policymakers to showcase London as a world-class higher education and research destination and centre of excellence, and to increase student and staff satisfaction in the capital.

Dr Diana Beech, Chief Executive Officer of London Higher said:

“We are delighted to welcome Imperial College London to the London Higher membership. The institution brings with it world-leading expertise in medicine, science and business, alongside deep-rooted links within London’s local communities, and will be a valuable member of our vibrant networks as we begin the new year.

While it has been a difficult time for the sector and our city, we know higher education institutions will be central to recovery – from educating tomorrow’s workforce to realising the Government’s ‘science superpower’ ambitions – and we look forward to working with Imperial College London to strengthen the voice of London’s higher education sector.”

Professor Alice Gast, President of Imperial College London, said:

“London is a global centre for discovery and education, and universities such as Imperial play a crucial role in enhancing the capital’s reputation for business, research and innovation. Imperial’s collaborations, discoveries and networks are transforming lives and creating opportunity both here in our local communities and across the world.

“London Higher provides an important and influential voice as we work with local, national and international stakeholders to realise our mission to benefit society through enduring excellence in research and education in science.”
