Commenting on the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget, London Higher CEO Liz Hutchinson said:
“London is the nation’s economic powerhouse. The capital has led the UK towards growth and recovery before and will do so again. Our universities are a vital part of that path to prosperity, driving innovation, solving complex challenges, training the workforce and anchoring communities across the city and far beyond.
Providing the conditions for our sector to thrive is therefore essential. We stand ready to work with government to ensure London’s universities remain on a strong footing to deliver the growth, innovation and opportunity this country needs.
The confirmation of any levy on international students is a disappointment. Welcoming and supporting London’s students, domestic and international, remains paramount. We will work closely with the Department for Education and sector partners to make sure the UK remains an attractive study destination for global talent.”
