Stella’s career began in Cyprus as a psychologist in the mental health services, where she established the country’s first Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department. Her career took a political turn when she was elected to parliament as the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety. She championed legislation on children’s, women’s rights, and patients’ rights, and led the way during the COVID 19 pandemic.
