Student experience
London has the most diverse student body in the UK, with research showing that the numbers of younger student entering HE will increase by over 50% by 2030, nearly 75% of these students will be from BAME backgrounds, over 50,000 will be the first in the family to enter HE and the numbers entering HE eligible for free school meals may approach 100% from some parts of the capital.
The Living and Learning in London: What the 2022 HEPI / Advance HE Student Academic Experience Survey tells us about student life in the capital report, shows that London students are more likely than those in all other English regions to say their experience has exceeded their expectations. London students are also among the happiest, with more rating their happiness as 9 or 10 out of a maximum of 10, significantly higher than any other part of the UK. However, London universities also consistently rank worse than other regions in the NSS, so there is work to do.
We focus on ensuring the student experience in London is the best it can be through supporting our members and bringing them together to start initiatives that can support their student body. We are now extremely pleased to be recognised as the “Best Student City 2024″ by QS for the fifth time.
