Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
Network Aim: To provide a space for open and honest discourse surrounding the opportunities and challenges involved in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work across higher education in London. The Network seeks to act as a champion of EDI work across the sector and beyond. The Network will offer an opportunity to share resources, current best practice and a forum for discussion. The network will strive to be a safe, respectful space where members can speak openly and honestly in pursuit of increased understanding and better practice.

Chair: Dr Zainab Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) & Director of the Centre for Equity & Inclusion, London Metropolitan University.
As Pro Vice-Chancellor, Zainab leads Teaching & Learning at London Met. She also oversees the Centre for Professional and Educational Development, and Academic Portfolio. As the Director of the Centre for Equity, she oversees the Access & Participation Plan and the creation of an inclusive and equitable culture for everyone at London Met. The Centre is pioneering a new approach to driving EDI in institutional practices and culture.
She is a multi-award-winning advocate for inclusion and race equity in education. Her work has received national recognition at the prestigious Guardian University Awards in 2019, Inclusive Companies Awards 2018 and she received the Chairman’s Award and high commendation at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards 2020 for her service to the Public Sector. Her particular area of expertise is the design and implementation of transformational change programmes which address the experience of Black and minoritised individuals in Higher Education and the labour market.
Prior to her academic career Zainab trained as a barrister and holds a PhD in law. She is a proud trustee of The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, member of the governing body for University College Birmingham and the convenor of WHEN’s Senior Women of Colour Network.
