London Higher statement on updated Access & Participation Plan guidance

The Office for Students has today published updated regulatory guidance for providers developing ‘wave 2’ access and participation plans. Commenting on this, Dr Richard Boffey, Head of AccessHE at London Higher said:

“London Higher welcomes the emphasis this guidance places on collaboration and partnership in widening participation work. As our recent Collaboration Matters conference highlighted, partnerships in this area may require time, effort and careful planning, but they can meaningfully shift the dial when it comes to achieving equality of opportunity in higher education. Inter-agency working is also of vital necessity at a time of economic challenge and stretched resource across the public and third sectors.

London Higher likewise endorses the call by the OfS in its updated guidance to take genuinely institution-wide approaches to addressing equality of opportunity risks that engage students and staff outside of widening participation teams. We look forward to supporting our members in this area in 2024 alongside our ongoing work to support and enable meaningful collaboration.”
