Alistair Jarvis CBE appointed chair of London Higher’s Policy Network

London Higher is delighted to announce that Alistair Jarvis CBE, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Partnerships and Governance) at the University of London will become Chair of London Higher’s Policy Network. With a new administration at City Hall and the upcoming general election, Alistair’s experience and expertise will help drive forward London Higher’s policy engagement at this critical time.

Alistair will work closely with Mark Corbett, Head of Policy and Networks at London Higher, and other members of the Policy Network, to engage effectively with the Greater London Authority (GLA) and other key stakeholders across the London and HE landscape.

Alistair is a member of the senior executive team at the University of London with responsibilities including communications, fundraising, marketing, legal, governance, student recruitment, inclusion, regulatory compliance, quality assurance and supporting partnerships with federation members.

Previously, Alistair was CEO of Universities UK (UUK) – a registered charity and six subsidiary entities – between 2017-2022. UUK is the representative body for the UK’s 140+ universities, and his role included influencing policy, strategy and member engagement. Before this, Alistair was Deputy CEO and Director of External Relations at UUK (since 2013).

Prior to working at UUK, he was a Director at the University of Birmingham and has held external engagement roles for national organisations.

Alistair received a CBE in 2022 for services to Higher Education and supporting universities during the Covid-19 crisis.

He is a member of the UCAS Board of Trustees and member of the advisory boards of Wonkhe, the UPP Foundation and the Discovery Decade project. Alistair was educated at the Universities of Kent, Leicester and the Institute of Education, UCL​.
