About AccessHE
AccessHE is the widening participation division of London Higher. Our aim is to support students from underrepresented backgrounds to access and succeed in higher education. We do this by bringing together a membership of London higher education institutions and a network of 200+ schools, colleges and other local partners to deliver collaborative HE outreach projects as well as initiatives that help prepare current students for graduate employment.
A key area of our work including supporting 25 higher education providers by convening action forums for that support their professional practice. These forums each focus on a specific underrepresented student group or element of widening participation work. Their aim is to provide attendees with professional development and facilitate sharing opportunities, as well as creating a space for developing joint projects, whether they be resources, outreach programmes or other initiatives.
About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a part-time (0.6/ 0.8FTE) Membership and Communities Manager to coordinate the AccessHE’s action forums and lead on engaging and communicating with AccessHE’s wider member and partner communities. This is an integral element of AccessHE’s work, and we are seeking someone who can bring fresh, innovative thinking to help build their success. The postholder will have an opportunity to bring their own thinking and experience into the development of the agendas for these forums.
In addition, the Membership and Communities Manager will help to increase AccessHE’s profile and impact. Working with the AccessHE and London Higher leadership team they will play a wider role in growing AccessHE’s membership and income base.
Main responsibilities include:
- Manage AccessHE’s seven action forums and their associated outputs. Working closely with the forum chairs to identify topics, develop agendas, encourage good attendance and the sharing of best practice.
- Lead strategic engagement, with members and non-members alike, to increase the profile of the action forums and communicate their impact.
- Working with the Head of AccessHE to increase AccessHE’s membership and explore external funding opportunities.
About you
If you feel your skills and experience match the below, we would love to hear from you:
- A track record of successfully managing multiple partners. This could be experience gained within the higher education sector specifically, or in other account/client/partnership management roles.
- A commitment to tackling inequalities in access to higher education and a vision for how AccessHE can help to achieve this through the training and support we offer to our membership.
- A flexible worker, with understanding of how to work effectively in a small team and a willingness to work collaboratively, but also able to work independently when necessary.
- Proactive and innovative, with an ability to identify new opportunities for AccessHE and our members to pursue via our action forums.
